more irritation.

here's one on the list for "things that cause massive irritation": people who complain about certain federal holidays that "shouldn't be holidays."

"we shouldn't get martin luther king day off, because i'm white, and he was a communist."

"we shouldn't get columbus day off, because christopher columbus wasn't important."
okay, who the FUCK made you so miserable that you're going to complain about a paid day off? i think we should have MORE, not less, holidays - and they should be MANDATORY for the sake of the mental health of the workforce and the american family.

in fact, i will welcome a "george w. bush is really fucking awesome day" if it will get me a day off of work. some of you people wouldn't recognize a gift if you saw one...

I'd like my Hitler/Joseph Stalin Commemorative Vacation Week in February, like I used to have in high school.

I used to complain, but only for this reason: My birthday is on the actual Columbus Day and it kind of sucked when my birthday came around back in the day because it wasn't "special" to ditch school, since everyone else was out of school, too. (My mom let us have a "free sick day" on our birthdays). But, you know, I would settle for a Bush-Cheney BFF day (so long as chocolate is on sale)!

Me. Here. Right now. said...

Which would be fine, if I actually HAD the day off. I love what they do in Berkeley, they call Columbus Day, "Indigenous Peoples Day."
