more on the "pink flight"

maybe some of you are baffled by my harsh response to the pink flight. here's a brief explanation. what if a major airline (who are pretty much all run by straight white dudes) decided to offer a "black flight" and promised fried chicken and watermelons?

something tells me that this "pink flight" is totally not FUBU (i.e. "for us by us"). or if it is, the guy who thought this up is stuck in the 1970s and is completely out of touch with everyone born in the 1970s and beyond.

maybe i'm just younger than the target audience, but there seems to be a disconnect between what corporate types believe defines gay culture and the reality of current mainstream gay culture. also, it's a bit jarring to see how outsiders typecast a minority group for marketing purposes.

instead of campy entertainment, what about personal flat screen tvs? instead of pink cocktails, why not classic drinks with top shelf liquor? instead of pushing "pink face" minstrelsy, what about some dignity?

read the article linked to in this post by andrew sullivan. however, i wouldn't call it the "end" of gay culture; i would instead call it the "evolution" of gay culture.

and sadly, the corporate types are out of touch.
