quick blurb

this has always bothered me a bit. i've learned through experience that many of the people who join evangelical groups on campus are yearning for belonging and are generally not very independent minded people. and they deliberately sequester themselves into the "safe" zone, partly because the realities of life are too much to bear. as to why there are so many asian american converts, i think it's because many led very sheltered and structured lives, and then they are cast into this sea of crazies at harvard. hiding in homogeneous groups that preach a narrow, disciplined lifestyle is one way to feel safe. (okay, some do it, find god, and are very happy. but i could always tell the true believers from those who believed, because they were scared and confused.)

and another note: the whole AACF scene was scary. many were new converts, so it was like the blind leading the blind - except no one at harvard likes to admit that they don't know anything. so when they'd try to convert me, they'd get so upset that i had the audacity to think they were wrong, even though they couldn't answer any theological questions. "well, don't you want to feel god's love?" isn't exactly the best way to convince a skeptic, ya know. i was "tapped" no less than twelve times. yippee.

but dude... someone SHOULD start a christian fellowship at cardozo just to stir the pot. oh my god, that would be AWESOME!

also, on another note, a lazy person should choose judaism over christianity, because you only have to read one of the testaments. hehehahaa!
