Hey, hey...go check out my post on the subject. Iowans rock in the political awareness department. Problem is, you have 49.3% who are Rep and 49.1% who are Dem. I grew up walking into cafes and coffee shops where people just sat around and discussed politics--intelligently. Newspapers will never die there...there's not enough high speed Internet to kill that medium. Instead of posting blogs, they speak to each other. It's all kind of amazing, but I wouldn't want to live there again, regardless. I don't look good in a John Deere ball cap.
Honestly, though, this is an Iowa lower court decision (the Iowa District Court for Polk County). There was also a Supreme Court, NY County decision in favor of same sex marriage, but you know what happened to that.
yes it's a lower court opinion, but i was surprised that *any* court in iowa decided, "hey, this is a good idea."
