not to sound like the modelminority trolls, but...

come on. a quick google and IMDB search revealed that an asian-american, rose lam, has been producing "the L word" alongside ilene chaiken. IMDB doesn't have all the episodes marked correctly, but somewhere down the line she has been bumped to executive producer (a/k/a THE BOSS). she has been involved in some producing capacity since at least the second season.

ilene chaiken was quoted explaining the dearth of minority characters in the earlier seasons as a product of the creators' writing that they knew about their circle. now, i'm not going to launch some campaign against the L word, but i find her words less believable now.

one more season, people. you have one more season to bring in an asian american actress as part of the main cast. it's los angeles, stupid! some korean-american acquaintances from los angeles whom i knew from law school confronted me one day and asked me how it was like to grow up in a place where white people - and not asian people - were the majority.

(except don't cast bai ling. she crazy.)

Ugh, Bai Ling would be a terrible casting.
