tell me not to freak out.

emily1, what is this shit?!

it needs to turn around and dump more rain on florida, preferably katherine harris' house.

this BLOWS. i want to scream, but i don't want to frighten my co-workers or damage their hearing. DAMMIT. i really really hope that the person managing the property we rented is reasonable about giving us back most of our money. otherwise, i'll just skip the screaming and cry.

check your e-mail. i wouldn't freak out just yet. i've learned not to believe any weather forecasters. the thing could just peter out over florida and die. or hit charleston and die. or cross florida and head into the gulf of mexico. or, like the last tropical storm, just die by itself.

but anyway, i checked the policy. you can cancel any time prior to seven days before occupancy. that doesn't apply to us. but if we bail at the last moment, we only lose one day's deposit.

all is well.

i mean, i plan to show up anyway and cut my losses if mother nature gets ornery, because i already took friday off and due to my being a contractor, i haven't been able to take off any days all summer. so if it storms, it storms. i get on the ferry and head back to long island, wait it out, and ferry back twelve hours later. ain't no way in hell i'm spending all weekend in hoboken. this is my only vacation.

in other news... all of my worrying over this hurricane caused me not to refresh my chinese biotech stock, and i just lost the opportunity to sell and make $100. boo!

(yes, i know... small fries. but $100 ain't nothin' to sneeze at!)

hey, are there any vegetarian/vegans who need special accomodations for dinner this weekend?

FM said...

no vegans or vegetarians that i know of.

ha! now they have it heading to south carolina, where it will end up in the ohio valley.

hurricane tracking is like betting on horses.

not anymore. as of 5pm, it is back on track to hit fire island.

it looks like it's not going to hit fire island now. the storm has greatly weakened, so we'll get a lot of non-life-threatening rain if it does change course towards the island again.

i vote that we eat, drink and be merry indoors if this happens.
