Our Household's Favorite Quick And Easy Dinner

1 small roaster chicken
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1/2 tablespoon oyster sauce
1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon five spice powder
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon basil
3 cloves garlic

put cloves of garlic inside chicken
mix oil, sauces, and spices and pour over chicken
roast in the oven at 375 degrees fahrenheit for 90 minutes

very delish.

[update -- cooking time for your roaster may vary depending on the size of the chicken. practice good sense. if you notice any blood when you stick a sharp instrument into the chicken it needs to cook longer, obviously. check the meat close to the bone if you're not sure.]

the lovely thing about this roast chicken business is that you can pretty much do whatever you want. the fat in the chick is so flavorful already. the sauce for this recipe was based on the seasoning in common chinese recipes. one based on indian cooking would also be very good i think. in fact, that's what i will do next time.

Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer in several locations to ensure doneness. Internal temperature should be a minimum of 170°F when checked in breast area and a minimum of 175°F when checked in the thigh area. If a meat thermometer is not available, check for doneness by piercing the breast and thigh with a fork and be sure the juices run clear.
