admittedly, the humour is... special. here's a test to see if you will appreciate it: the author's online store sells, among other things, bumper stickers that say, "my other car is a pynchon novel".
or you could just check out the PBS convention comic or, better yet, the funny pages comic.

think the wizard of oz crossed with the sensibilities of waiting for godot and the sheer musical enjoyment of the only webber musical that doesn't sound like cats being strangled to the accompaniment of banjos, namely jesus christ superstar.
then go read wicked: the life & times of the wicked witch of the west and tad william's retake of the oz experience in his otherland series.
