run, bloomberg, run! (ross perot, part deux?)

the last time bloomberg changed his party affiliation, it was to run against a democrat, so he could secure the new york city mayoral office. today he disaffiliated from the republican party, and many believe this could be the harbinger of a 2008 presidential bid.

well, if you are a kazillionaire, you can pretty much do anything and get away with it, including dropping $1 beeeellion dollars on a campaign and barely notice that it's missing.

rudy v. hillary v. bloomberg?

it's like a subway series, except more... minus the drunken yankees and mets fans yelling and puking in the streets of course.

update: here's a daily kos diary entitled, "any liberal who considers bloomberg is an idiot." really, i think someone should write a diary entitled, "any liberal who DOESN'T consider bloomberg is an idiot." have you people forgotten that hillary was pro-iraq war too? hmm? short memories, people. maybe you also forgot that bloomberg was a life-long democrat and only "switched" to ensure he could get the nomination of any party. the guy is a liberal.

i suspect that many people are too concerned about labels and are too chickenshit to consider anyone who doesn't wear the "democrat" badge. that's too bad. and don't try to scare me with the "well if you were planning to vote dem and you vote independent, that's a vote for the republicans" line. my response: well, the dems should have put someone better than the independent in the lineup in the first place! plus, there are plenty of independents and non-theocrat republicans out there who will vote for a viable non-party-affiliated candidate. i'm going to vote for who i think is the best candidate, and i will seriously consider a bloomberg candidacy.

Rudy v. Hillary v. Bloomberg is probably the only race where I could tell you I'd absolutely vote Bloomberg.

I think Mayor Nanny would take more votes from Hillary than Rudy or Fred Thompson.

Bloomie is a very arrogant man. I also highly doubt he rides the subway that much. He's the mayor, I want him driven around so he can make calls and stuff. New Yorkers shouldn't want him wasting all that time on the subway.

We all have to wonder what Bloomberg is really thinking of with this congestion pricing tax scheme. Maybe he mostly just wants a new tax. Just wrap it up in ‘concern for the environment’, and then people can just demonize those who oppose it.

If he cares so much about traffic jams, congestion and air pollution, why does he let Park Avenue be blocked off? Why doesn’t he do anything about that?

It's true, Pershing Square Restaurant blocks Park Avenue going South at 42nd St. for about 12 hours a day/5 months of the year! This Causes Massive Congestion and Air Pollution!

But apparently it does not bother NYC’s Nanny-in-Chief Mike “Congestion Pricing Tax” Bloomberg?

It certainly supports his claim that the city is hugely congested.
