it was inevitable.

in the aftermath of columbine, the mainstream media - and parents looking for a scapegoat - blamed marilyn manson and trent reznor. homicide has been blamed in part on violent playstation games. now, the mainstream media is focusing on the critically-acclaimed film, "oldboy," hypothesizing that it could have been a catalyst for the virginia tech shooting.

oldboy is a fabulous film. yes, it is dark, and it is disturbing. however, nothing in the film is any worse than what occurs in a tarantino film. and no one would suggest that a tarantino fan or tarantino himself is prone to commit mass murder; to suggest such a thing is absurd. if you haven't seen "oldboy", i suggest watching it.

the blame lies in the killer alone.
