Fundamentalisms

i have writer's block, so i don't have anything to say about this article, except that it's a good read and it demonstrates that fundamentalism is not limited to religion.

hrm. although that article had some very good points, i think it would have been more powerful if the author had also covered opposing ends of the spectrum in each of the "four fundamentalisms." there are four that the author singled out: religious, economic, nationalist, and technological.

i think it would have been more powerful if he had included hypotheticals of atheistic, socialist, multicultural, and anti-progress "fundamentalisms" in his overview.

i thought it was good but one-sided.

yeah. i wish it were meatier and more in depth. the nature of fundamentalist style thinking is such an important and interesting topic that it needs more exposition than a short essay. i hope he writes about it more.

The "economic fundamentalism" position described has nothing to do with economics.

i think that's the point.
