you have to be kidding me...

there are always a couple of crazy fundies in every school system. we had a couple of parents make a stink about something they felt was offensive to christians (at least those who subscribe to their prejudiced and reactionary interpretation of "christianity"). i can't remember what it was, but i do remember that i was pretty minor and stupid. but the parents pulled their kids out of my high school, calling the administration "immoral." i think the the school newspaper (with the administration's blessing) responded "don't forget to take your gun rack and pick up truck with you."

ya know... if you don't like the idea of your kids learning about the real world, homeschool your kids. i see these wide-eyed sheltered children on "wife swap" a lot. sure, they won't survive a minute outside of the home, but at least their parents get what they want...

there are also inexpensive parochial schools around. if the public school system skeeves you out, CHOOSE SOMETHING ELSE or SUCK IT UP. it's "public" for a reason; everyone is allowed to enroll, and a variety of viewpoints are allowed.

(of course, i'm leaning towards the idea that if you are unwilling to assume to risk of your kid being exposed to, you know, life on earth - you shouldn't have had the kid in the first place.)
