To watch the oscars, if you're in Taiwan.
Office workers on the island of 23 million people took time off to watch live TV broadcasts of the Academy Awards ceremony Monday morning - still Sunday night in Hollywood.I wonder what cultural event would give Americans a national de facto holiday. And accolades from the president.
Expectations were high during the run-up to the ceremony, with photos of Lee across the front pages of island's newspapers.
Taiwan's ERA Cable News station said Lee's victory was "the glory of Chinese all over the world."
Too bad Mel Gibson is Australian and he wasn't even nominated for best director for Passion of the Christ. Ha ha.
(Sorry it was too easy, and I'm not very clever this morning. It's Monday.)
