no matter what you thought of the transit worker strike, there is no need for this. the classless twit known as miss jones (of the "tsunami song" brouhaha) is at it again. you have to read it to believe it.
for the record, a college education does not always lead to higher earnings. unionized blue collar workers in certain industries often make six figures with excellent benefits and hours. guess who's laughing all the way to the bank, miss jones? who's smarter now? your college-educated ass just got 0wn3d by the wisconsin forklift driver who makes $100k, has complete health care coverage, a ceiling for maximum working hours, and a pension plan.
i'm beginning to think that a college education has lost its value. if you want real financial stability, either get an MD, a JD, or get yourself a PhD and get tenured at a university. either that or don't go to college at all, become an auto worker, and join a union. if you're lucky enough to be part of a union, you don't waste six figures on higher education. or you can make quite a bit of money first and *then* go to college.
anyway, i'm going to ramble off topic into "too much information" territory. one time, very recently, my girlfriend decided to be cute and have her fingers on her left hand go on strike. she had her fingers form a picket line and marched up and down my tummy yelling "hell no, we won't go!" then she had her right hand come in ("they're scabs!" she said.) but then she had her left hand beat up her right hand. i have no idea why i found that so funny.
