have some pretty cool doodads to protect against storm surges. they had their disaster in 1953, when a storm overwhelmed their levee system and forced 70,000 to evacuate. the page that is linked says "dikes," but i say levee, because when i say "dike" i think water, which leads to "wet" and then it's all downhill from there. sorry, i'm immature.
