Butt Boil

it's hot. i'm mildly nauseous from taking naproxen sodium. my big goal for today is to get the boil at the top of my ass cleft to drain. this is another of my gross and offensive posts. if that bothers you, get lost before the bloody, pus-filled horrors begin.

over christmas break in 1997, when some people were still using the mosaic web browser and dial up connections were all the rage, i noticed that my lower back hurt whenever i sat on my parents' ancient, poodle-funk-scented couch. there's not much to do in oak ridge, tennessee other than sit on my ass. the scenery can change, of course. i could sit on my ass at a chain restaurant, a movie theater, or in front of my parents' television. at the time, i thought the pain was due to the marathon of ass-sitting.

the pain never got worse than a dull ache. it suddenly disappeared while my brother and i were driving back to the northeast. we stopped at a rest stop and i noticed some nasty-smelling, bloody pus on the waistband of my underwear. after some serious freak-outage where i imagined myself as a medieval leper, or perhaps a bubonic plague sufferer, i realized that this was the tell-tale sign of a draining boil. it was the first time i'd ever had the ill luck to suffer from one of the nasty things, but there's a first time for everything. i bought some neosporin and gauze pads to speed along the healing process, and everything was peachy keen within a day.

fast forward 6 months, and i got a familiar twinge in my lower back. because the first boil came and went so quickly, i thought nothing of it. i washed the area and proceeded with my normal activities, but the damn thing just wouldn't drain. after a couple of days, it hurt to both sit and walk. just as i was about to break down and go to university health services so that a doctor and some unknown number of medical students could take a gander at my ass sore, the boil began to drain.

let me put it this way -- it was completely and utterly disgusting. more disgusting than shit. shit is a familiar, every-day by-product of the body. foul-smelling, yellow-brown, oozing bloody pus coming out the top of one's ass crack is most definitely not. so, again, i applied neosporin and gauze pads. i figured that since i was not running a fever and the pain was much relieved by the bursting of the boil, i did not need to show my ass to members of the medical profession. within two days, it was mostly healed, even if it was a bit itchy from the growth of new skin and all.

years passed and the ass-crack affliction did not return. occasionally, it would get mildly irritated in hot, steamy weather, but never did it become infected. so, seven years later, the boil decides to return. by this time, the internet has matured enough that a quick google search gave me a name for the condition in which one develops periodic boils at the top of one's ass cleft -- pilonidal disease. some doctors speculate that it is a birth defect due to late regression of a fetal 'tail' apparent in some sonograms of 14-16 week old fetuses.

frankly, given the choice between the prehensile tail of my ancestors and a chronic skin infection at the top of my ass crack, i'd totally have chosen the tail. now, i am contemplating surgery to resolve this little condition. however, estimated success rates (judging from my extensive googling on the subject) range from 50% to 90%. the estimated recovery period ranges from 2 weeks to 2 months. meanwhile, someone has to clean and pack an open wound on my ass several times a day.

now, if the success rate is 90%, i'd be willing to sacrifice my winter break to have this ass boil problem removed. 50%.... eh, not so much. choices, choices.

I'm currently having problems with butt boils. First, I had this big red dot on my butt. It was painful but I didn't really think much of it to be truthful. I thought it was just a bacterial infection and it would go away. Then one day I saw this big bloody spatter on my underwear and saw the boil had exploded and drained. Anyway I put some neosporin and bandaid on it and I was like this is weird but okay. Then one appeared on my back, this time I was prepared and it didn't get that big and it drained and went away. Now the one on my butt is healing alrightly but other ones are starting to pop up around it. They're smaller and I already heated them and drained them but I hope they go away. I just don't know how to prevent the infection from spreading. How did you keep the infection from spreading to make new boils? This is the first time in my life i've had this problem and I hope it goes away.

My friends know about it but the most they can say is eww that's gross because they haven't had to experience the wonders of butt boils yet.

well, if the boil appears at the top of your butt crack, it is probably what i have, a pilonidal cyst. these are caused by a minor birth defect -- the opening wear your tail bone develops doesn't close up properly, so you have this opening in your skin that can get infected.

if the boils are appearing around your rectum, it is possible that you have ingrown hairs which can cause nasty skin infections that develop into boils. these could also be a symptom of an STD. see a doctor and get it checked out.

if they are appearing on your back, it might be that you have ingrown hairs as well, but i'd go to a doctor to get checked for diabetes. chronic skin infections can be a symptom because diabetes makes it harder for your body to fight off infections.

in any case, both of you should see a doctor. boils are normal, even ones on your butt. it might be embarrassing, but you'll be getting real medical advice, not random info from a stranger on the internet.

this whole boil thing is getting worst but hte rouine is the same , redness - tiny boil - bigger boil - pus boil - excrutiating pain - bursting of the boil - pus - blood - wound - scarring. sumone please explain to me what it is and what do i do to stop it . doctors are not an option . . .

Most of the time the boils will appear in a area that has alot of friction IE - under arms-thighs-underwear line

comes from sweat, dirt and the friction on ur skin.
Only time i have gotten on the lower back- tip of butt crack is from consecutive days of sitting in my car for 8+hours driving place to place- thinking its a strain on ur tailbone-

So i have been doing to research and it seems to me that this is a parasite. we all have parasites in our bodies some good and some bad but we get them from the foods we eat, air we breath and how hygenic we are... Anyway i am going to try to do a parasite cleanse alsong with a liver cleanse before sticking chemicals in my body from a doctor.

check out this website for info on cleanses:

Well , I never thought I would be googling up some info on "ass boils"
but, here I am. I have landed on your page due to my enormous ass boil.

Just for the record, I have never had a boil in my life. (and I'm 46)

I have however, been blessed with the pilonidal cyst problem. This was years ago. It first popped up when I was about 15, it hurt so damn bad I thought I had somehow broken my tail bone.
I spent days soaking in scalding hot water and it finally popped. After it came back for about the 4th time. I had the surgery.I was 19 then) They didn't make me do any packing of the gross thing. They cut like a triangle of tissue out and then just left it open to heal.

If you were to feel it now or look at my ass in the bright lights, you'd probably know that I have a scar there. But believe me,by the time you're 46 ....no one is dying to do either.

Now,if I could just get rid of my ass boil.

Why can't I get
non -humiliating medical problems??? WTF?

I'm going to try using semi-hot water for a bit. I'm 19 and I've had this problem for roughly a bit longer then two years. Never as bad as it is now. Every few times a year I got it it would kinda hurt to walk, but this shit has me bent over and hobbling. I'm prepared for the pain of popping it if it never hurts this much again.

Raegus said...

Guys if you just let semi-hot water from a shower head focus on it for a while it really does help. I felt better instantly and could stand up straight again. I get alot of pain when I bend down but I feel such relief. It doesn't hurt when I sit down anymore, or when I'm trying to get to sleep. If you only have a lump then feel extremely lucky, because this pain was close to unbearable. It might help if you let the boil grow to where the skin feels really tender so you know it's about to pop, I didn't think to look it up on the internet so I was already at this stage when I found out the water trick.

Do not try and pop your boi....this will cause them to spread!

This is quite contagious. Use antibacterial soap and midly hot water to clean often. Apply following salve and cover with gauze and tape...Change atleast 3 times a day depending on severety

Apply hot water. Use ichthammol ointment to draw the boil out. Make sure you cover it with gauze. When it bust use neosporin to reduce bacteria and infection. Keep covers till redness clears up pretty much.

Ok well I have this boil in the top of my ass right wher the but crack starts from my lower back. Well I didn't even know it was there for a long time then one day I noticed that when I wiped my ass there was blood. Well the thing is draining down out of a hole right in the center of my upper but crack, no where neer my whooo hoo, anyway. I went to the emergency room and the doctor gave me some medicine for getting rid of the infection, and it has cleared a little but the thing is still there, it is just like a bump deep in the skin of my really lower back. this has been around now for about two months and I'm startin to not like it. After I started squeezing it it just keeps running down the little hole right in the middle of my upper but crack first its like sort of yellow then kind of bloody. Anyway not to get too technical I have heard from several people including the nurse at the emergency room. That these things are nothing to fool around with, that they can and do burrow down further into your bone and can make for a major surgery and even crack your pelvis. That's the reason why I got so technicle abbout it because I wanted you to know exactly what it was that I was talking about, Like the guy who said that he had it two or three times, well someone told me that there daughter had one, and that she would have it the rest of her life. Well I don't know about you, but I don't want this damm thing for the rest of my life, and so Thursday I am going to have it opperated on. So if you have such a thing seek proffesional help, not just these blogs. The nurse told me it was nothing to mess around with, OK, so do somthing about it, don't let your pride or your shame make you live with somthing like this the rest of your life. Anyway I will blog you and let you know how it goes with the opperation, its a simple outpatient thing. I guess I got to this early enuff. Thanks to you guys and the internet for this kind of open conversation, and I hope all of you get rid of the puss. God Bless.

DrRo

Boils on the Butt or in the inner thigh or in the groin area may be mainly due to staph infection, the boils will first creep up as small pimple, then in another two or three days the areas surrounding the boil will get infected and Pus will start forming, if you have found it in the earlier stage it can be cured thru medicines, usually you can take tablets

Roxithyromycin 150Mg or Clarithyromycin 500Mg twice a day for two weeks and apply the ointment Mupicrocin or T-Bact or bactoban, it will get healed, if you didnt see this in the earlier stage and the pus has formed, its better to go to the doctor and remove the pus, then pack the wound on a daily basis.

To prevent this always keep the groin area and the Butt clean, after bathing you should dry those places cleanly, most often everyone while taking bath cleans those areas but wont take enough attention to keep it dry, Dont wear the same inners or your trousers more than once without washing, this is help you to greatly prevent this

Am I the only butt boil veteran here? I've had them for 15 yrs now, since the age of 9! I have countless scars on my butt. Get this, I have been in 4 serious relationshipsin my life, yet I have never dared to show any of my b/fs my ass. You can imagine the horrible impact this has made on my sex life and self-esteem. Also, I don't think I'm the only one in my imediate family who has this problem. Someone suggested applying vinegar, tho I'm sure it won't work either...

Hi. I'm so sorry for what you're going through. Have you gone to a dermatologist? For better cure try boilx spray

I just wanted to throw a suggestion out there...

I went looking for answers for years. I have had this problem since I was 9 also. Hasnt gone away and Im 27!

I did tons of research for about 5 years and found out I have hidradenitis suppurativa. Its been confirmed by my dermatologist.

Look it up and read all about it. Its an actual non-contagious, incurable skin disorder.

I hope this information helps out some of you. I too did not tell ANYONE about this. Its quite embarrassing. My husband is the only person who knows and it took me 5 years to tell him.

Letting it out and talking to someone is the best way to get help with HS.
