turn out, burn out

it's creepy how all souls' comes the day before the presnidenchull election. (insert quip about cemeteries that voted in past elections, floridian elders whose mail-in ballots count even though they'll be dead on election day, yadda yadda.)

it's creepy because, well, the process is creepy. on some level, large-scale democracy is confusing. it's self-contradicting. and in the modern political arena, where the voters number a couple million in early voting alone, it's insane. the law of averages insures we have an unreal person as presnident, one who can get the vote.

i guess i don't have much to say. this season has been brutal and i'm not good with those word things.

so i'mma recommend following strategy: turn out to vote, then go take a nap from the burn-out. in the meantime, there'll be nothing useful to do. the spin machines go overdrive, the election results will be contested all over the country, and unless kerry gets a surprise reagan win, we might not know who won the election until inauguration day - and even then, the opposing party might show up to contest that.

political activism is in my blood. i may turn out if there are protests, etc. i wish i were em jenny 2.0 just as fervently as i hope i never shall have to be her.

so nap, save your strength; we may be making decisions about what we are going to do next in our personal lives, depending.

still, that girl has guts. (and really, really hardcore facial tattoos.) i don't have the brains to be her but i sure as heck can do the things i am able to do - and it starts with voting.

which reminds me: time to review the voter card for my district. remembering iron jawed angels, let's hit the league of women voters to check on our local candidates and bills and sichlyk.
