漂流街 (revisited)

that addictive nutjob miike film 漂流街 (hyôryû-gai 'city of lost souls') is on again.

nothing like movie that starts with a ten-minute action scene involving a helicopter chase through 埼玉県 (saitama), especially when said scene was clearly filmed in the sonoran desert bordering méxico - complete with miles of dunes, saguaros, your standard u.s.-style deportation bus but with japanese lettering containing brazilians and mandarin speakers & - to tip the scales - a giant roadside sign with a geisha advertising some japanese food product.

the matrix-inspired cockfight just gilds the frelling lily, if you ask me.

utterly addictive, can't help watching it even when i don't want to.

oh, and adult swim isn't helping - they've got super milk chan on in their regular lineup now.

yeep.
