Goal #1

i'm not going to dwell on whether this election was legitimate or not. kerry has conceded the race, so i doubt we are going to see an actual full vote count at this point. what i want to see are elections in which i can trust the results fully. that means that priority one is a paper trail for every election. it also means that we need to put relentless pressure on our government to provide a non-electronic system.

i study computer science. let me be the first to tell you that relying on software to count your vote is Really. Fucking. Stupid. it encourages paranoia and distrust in the system. i should know. i'm having a tough time beliving the results in ohio and florida. :-D. we also need to have have consistent rules for every state.

we need to make it a requirement to get people into and out of the voting booth in less than an hour. no more ten hour waits ala ohio. i would also like a mandatory 2-5 year jail term for election fraud for such lovely behavior as ripping up all the registrations from people who declared membership in a particular party -- namely the one you oppose.
