i'm so glad the cute one is bi

gossip isn't my purview, but hot on the heels of the recent allegations that mary cheney was the one responsible for her parents' nasty public reaction to her - she told them to do it to deflect the democrats from scoring points - i like to read something positive once in a while.

afterEllen reported something at the end of september that i appeared to miss - unsurprising given that i didn't like her recent claim to fame - but wish i hadn't.

cynthia nixon, who played miranda on sex in the city,

has been outed—sort of. Both the New York Daily News and The New York Post are reporting today that Nixon is in a relationship with another woman (who has not been named because "she's just a private citizen who would like to remain private," according to the News's sources).

What makes this more than the usual gossipy speculation about celebrities' love lives is Nixon's response when asked directly about the lesbian relationship for the Daily News article. "My private life is private," Nixon responded. "But at the same time, I have nothing to hide. So what I will say is that I am very happy."

With this statement, Nixon joins the growing number of lesbian and bisexual celebrities who are striking a careful compromise between coming out and staying in the closet. [snip]

Update: Nixon's girlfriend has since been outed by the press as community organizer Christina Marinoni, whom Nixon met while campaigning for better funding for city schools.

nice - she was always the one i found hot; i couldn't stand to watch those ultra-hets talk. not hot - you c'n have those em'lys. (see my previous post on queers speaking differently - maybe it was subconscious recognition of a like, um, mind?)

i'm sorry ms. marinoni couldn't keep her privacy, though. it's just wrong of the press to out someone like that - it's scandalmongering, which prolly was the entire reason ms. nixon outed herself in the first place. you can't make a scandal out of honest, forthright statements like hers. as is proven by the fact that this wasn't a scandal when they found out her lover's name.
