yap yap yap blah blah blah... let me tell you what i think:
if i were mary cheney, i wouldn't WANT to be on stage. i wouldn't want to appear to support an administration that is bent on making gays and lesbians second class citizens. i'd avoid this whole circus altogether. but man... it sucks to be her. whenever mary cheney isn't on stage, people gripe that her parents must have sold her out. they assume that she wasn't invited to be on stage. (did it ever occur to anyone that she may not want to be up there in the spotlight, where the entire nation is watching with both sides going "looook! itz cheney's GAY DAUGHTER! OMIGOD!!!" or bring her partner into the circus?) then when she *is* on stage with her partner, she's a sellout. no matter what mary cheney does, she's vilifed.
leave her the fuck alone people. her dad sucks, but it isn't her fault. as much as the subversive part of me is happy that dear mary exists, the other part of me is like, whoa, it's too much. blood is thicker than water, people. i think it's tough to be in her position, but i don't think she will ever sell her dad out. you can't bite the hand that feeds you, even if he is part of a contingent that refuses to feed your friends. if that makes any sense.
