how do i feel about porn?
i feel like nekkid pictures of people can be a positive addition to the world. i feel that videos of people humping could make the planet happier. even when the humpers like to wear batman costumes or dress like their favourite star trek characters. even geek porn is a positive force in the universe.
and i also think that 99% of all pornography is nasty-ass exploitation of women, repulsive gynecological exams, rape fantasies for men - in short, it's all about making it more and more appalling to turn men on.
so, in short, there is good porn - in achingly short supply, rare as the black meat of the giant aquatic Brazilian centipede, and about as available. which brings us to today vision of evil, brought to our attention by the ever-vigilant bad world author warren ellis. from adult video news:
Questions about the morality of the legalized hunting of animals aside, combining that practice with pornography, as a south Florida company called Sexy Outdoor Sports has done, is repugnant, depraved and inexcusable.wow, i'm agreeing with the Powers of Porn. that's a scary thought. As detailed on AVN.com over the weekend, Sexy Outdoor Sports had Georgia-based adult performer Daisy Duxxx kill a buffalo with a hunting rifle, then videotaped her having hardcore sex with a man next to the slain animal. [...]
AVN has always been a staunch defender of First Amendment guarantees of free expression, notably when the material involves consenting adults, but in the case of Sexy Outdoor Sports, we draw the line. Animals cannot consent.
Not only do we find their practices abhorrent, cruel and in shockingly poor taste, but it seems to us that given the current political climate in Washington, critics of our industry will be all too eager to exploit those practices to further tarnish the industry as a whole, drawing no distinction between Sexy Outdoor Sports and the rest of Adult. [...]
[W]e urge the rest of the industry to condemn this company’s practices. There’s nothing sexy at all about Sexy Outdoor Sports.
now, where was i? oh, right, reading joanna russ' the female man. which has no hot lesbian sex in it. at all. nope. just another book.
*turns pink*

the female man is essentially my very, very favouritest book. i adore it. i also like everything else of hers i've been able to get my grubby little fingers on, but the female man takes pride of place by a mile.
i also have it pretty bad for clive barker's imajica and le guin's the dispossessed: an ambiguous utopia, though.
